Fall View Of The River

I love the summer view of "our" river.

but each Fall for a few weeks the river drops.

This time is used to check the dam that is just down river for any problems.

It gives us a different view of the river and the river bank too.

When it goes down Kirk gets busy working on putting the rocks back up on the bank that get washed out from the boats and this year the HIGH water that we had all Spring and most of the Summer.

The water didn't go down as far as it usually does.

So, that meant that you  Kirk was going to have to work on it every chance he had

 because it would not be staying down for very long.

and the few days it was down it was cold...yes, that is ice, the river was already starting to show signs of freezing!

Bless Kirk's heart, last year he had Sergio able to help because he wasn't working yet,

and years before he had sons living at home, this year he was on his own.

The river was down for less than a week so he wasn't able to get as much done as he wanted to.

What do you think of the low river view?

My first thought is WOW, I forget how deep the water is during the summer and

many I miss my summer river.

Fall Decor

I realised my entry way still had my July decorations up..

Really, what happen to August? I totally missed.

So, this is my fall wall and table.

I still need to get frames for my art projects.

I found this cute pumpkin and the little fall leaf salt and pepper shakers at Real Deals 

I change out my scrapbook paper in my wall frame each month  when I redo my entry way.

Usually, the paper has the month's name on it. This time I changed it up with a seasonal paper and a couple of embellishments.

I wanted to do this cool crayon art project that I had seen in the world of blogs.

 I think they are really neat.

I wanted to do mine with fall colors... and when I started I liked it...

but I wanted mine to look more "fallish" so I took the crayons off and started blending my colors.

I love it.

I must be looking forward to fall...

even though I am not ready to admit summer is over.

What Did You Do This Weekend?

I wanted to go to the mountains and see if the leaves were starting to change colors.

So, when Kirk got off work we drove to the area of southern Idaho known as Rock Creek.

There was a little bit of color.

 But the further we went the more colors we could find.

 We found one of the many nice little camp grounds and roasted hot dogs

 Kira and I were both grateful that it came with a nice clean potty.

 It was nice just to hang out

 and it was a good thing we were not in to big of a hurry to get home...because we found our selves taking a few misguided dirt roads.

Kirk is really good at finding his way around.

It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening.

Signs of Fall

Signs that fall is in the air...

IT IS SPRING!

While you, my friends have been enjoying summer, I have been having WINTER...well, as much winter as the northern part of Argentina gets
BUT
now it is the beginning of Spring
and the most amazing flowers are beginning to bloom

I have to admit I am not looking forward to an Idaho winter after the Tucuman one.

It is Really Fall in Idaho

Happy first day of fall and if you are into BIG words...autumnal equinox!
I have always loved the Fall and Spring Equinox because my kids and I would take a raw egg and stand it on its end...Pretty darn cool!
Today my counters are covered with canning "stuff" and the kids are gone, but I still enjoy thinking about it.
Today I was driving to Oakley to listen to Mike Ramsdell, the author of "A Train To Potevka" speak to the high school students. I was looking at all the fields that are done being harvested and the ground is tiled for winter, and lo and behold on Mt. Harrison is SNOW!!!!! Yes, I said the "S" word...SNOW!!! Yep, it really is Fall in Idaho!

Signs of Fall

As much as I hate to admit it, I am starting to see signs of fall.

The crisp morning air, the honk of geese, hummingbirds

and these cute little guys passing back through the area.

So, I guess it really is time for school to start, and the canning of the garden to begin!
