The Pecans

While we were in Arizona, Kira asked my sister, 'Lene if she would take some pictures of Miss H.

'Lene knew a place not far from where she lived that would have some green in the grass and a beautiful rock wall for a background.

We ended up getting to 'Lene's house later in the day than we had planned on.

So, when it was time to start taking Miss H's pictures...

Well, she really wasn't in the mood just to set around.

and heck, Ham was there...how could you not just want to squeeze him, and Miss H was going to hug on him as much as he would let her.

While 'Lene & Kira were busy chasing taking pictures of Miss H.

I found a childhood memory.

The Pecan Trees.

As I have mentioned I grew up in Arizona.

We had pecan trees around our home.

I can remember my dad climbing up in the trees and shaking them

until he had most of the nuts on the ground.

Our job was to gather the nuts from off the ground and put them in bags.

 I want to say they were gunny sacks.

But, everything is bigger when you are a kid.

As I walked around I found myself gathering the pecans,

squeezing two of the pecans together and cracking them open to get the meat out.

AMAZING...

ALMOST as amazing as the pictures that 'Lene was able to capture

while I was crawling around taking pictures of the nuts!

Dang she is cute!

Good job 'Lene and I LOVED the location.

My granddaughters are pretty lucky to have 'Lene as their Aunt or Tia.

Last week I get a text message asking what size the girl's are.

and a couple of days later these cute outfits arrived in the mail.

I was glad she "couldn't resist"

 because I think they both look so darn cute in the little dresses.

Miss C is growing up and it is so cute...she is getting where she wants to give "loves"

I am so excited to watch these two girls grow up together.

Miss H will see Miss C when she gets here in the morning and her little face just lights up.

and

"C" has been saying "Haz-elle" for at least a month.

I can see two cousins being as close as sisters.

and so darn cute!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDA

If you have ever visit Linda and her blog, you have probably been a recipient of her kindness.

My sister, Lene is who told me about Linda and her thing about cupcakes. I wish I could remember the story of the 100 cupcakes, but that is what first drew me to her blog.

What has kept me going to her blog and having her for a friend is because

I truly Love this lady.

I like seeing what her Friday Question will be each week.This summer Linda and her husband along with Jake changed their travel plans so they would go through Utah and I would be able to meet her face to face. I WAS SO EXCITED!

We joked that 3 Blogging friends from Arizona, California and Idaho had to travel to Utah to meet! (though 'Lene has been able to hang out with Linda several times in AZ)

Linda, as you said we are Sisters by Heart.

Long Time No See

I have rented a little apartment in Provo, Utah...that does not have Internet/wi-fi/ cable ect...ect...

But...it is a perfect for the living needs, it is furnished and comfortable.

So I was thinking I would do a few quick catch ups...

First~ How fun that my sister Lene, Linda and I were all able to meet together for a nice lunch...It was great! Linda was as amazing in real life as she is on her blog.I had an appointment with my heart transplant surgeon, Doctor Doty...he said everything looks great and said as I was leaving....go have fun and enjoy every minute of the rest of your life!

What Are They?

Kirk spends HOURS after work in the garden each year.

We plant a very large garden for only 2 people. yes the picture was taken by my sister 'lene
this is maybe a 1/4 of our 2009 garden

So this year "we" have decided to put in a smaller garden and we have been using some of the seeds that we harvested from last year.


We made "mini" green houses to get the seeds growing.
We use Zip-lock bags and good planting soil.
Kirk labeled all of his seeds so he knew what he was keeping to plant this spring.
I on the other hand just "saved" seeds of something I liked in a dish.Kirk and I both agree what I saved is some kind of squash...
I told him I think it is Spaghetti squash.
He is not real sure he wants to plant them in the garden.
(because we did not grow spaghetti squash last year)
Especially when the rest of the seeds are just starting to sprout and these have their 3rd leaves!
I asked if we could just plant one and SEE what it is...
his answer...
Do you remember we want a SMALL GARDEN!???

No! Not Already

I never like when we take these pictures...because it means my family is leaving. My sister, 'Lene and her family came and spent Christmas with us.

Usually when they come it is for longer than a week.I believe I was in a state of shock when I realized they were really leaving. Thanks 'lene and family for spending your Christmas with us. BUT
The house was way to quiet and I miss you already!

Why Haven't I Been Blogging?

HaPPy BirTHdAy 'LENE

Today is my sister 'Lene's birthday, I can't tell you how old she is because I can hardly remember how old I am.

But, I know I was 7 years old and in the 1st grade when she was born. With 3 younger brothers I was quite the happy big sister.

For as long as I can remember she has always loved books.

She has let me be more than just an aunt to her children. Sometimes I forget that I am not "Nana Niece"

So Lene, I may be older than you, and you always have had better looking hair than I do (go back and look at the first photo again if you have any doubt), but this is true...I have the best sister in the world.
I love you with all my heart, and wish I was with you to celebrate your day.
