A Place Not To Miss In Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Finding things to do in the Salt Lake City Valley is not hard to do, especially if you want to see and learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (The Mormons).

As an active member of the LDS Church, I love visiting the temples.

The experience of seeing this model was so amazing to me.

I have been inside the SLC Temple on several occasions, but I have never seen the stair cases or the assembly hall.

To see them through this model was so fun.
and though my pictures are not as clean as what the following will be from KSL News and the
LDS News Room it was a wonderful afternoon on temple square.

The south and east exterior walls of the model have been cut away, allowing replicated views of many of the temple's rooms, such as the large assembly hall, areas where the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve meet regularly, the baptistry and other ordinance rooms.
The model is intricately detailed, with paintings, furniture and even working chandeliers and lamps imitating what is found inside the Salt Lake Temple.
Constructed by Peter McCann Architecture Models of Toronto, the replica building required 16 modelers and five months of elaborate efforts.
"Some of the detail is so fine that we had to find people that were capable of doing it at that scale," said Joseph Coulas, the firm's project manager.

Service At The LDS Humanitarian Center

We were getting tired of "just hanging out" in the Utah Valley and so we decided to go see if we could volunteer at the LDS Humanitarian Center. They were more than happy to let us help for as long as we would like.
They assigned us to the clothing sorting room

These are clothes that have been donated to the Desert Industries (DI) and have not been sold.

These clothing items will be then sorted into categories, only the best will do; dirty, damaged items will go to "rag" bins.

After everything is sorted they are prepared to send to areas of the world who are needing help be it poverty or natural disasters.

It was really a lot of fun and Kira, Sergio and I look forward to doing it more often.

Chance Of HIGH Winds

This evening we had a storm "roll" in

It was one of the fastest and strongest I have seen in a very long time.

This is or should I say, one of our large Russian Olive Trees
I am still amazed that it was blown overAs the wind and rain quickly arrived our canoe and paddle boat even quicker disappeared.

The canoe was blown back into the yard, but the paddle boat was taken down the river.

( that very small dot...yea that WAS our paddle boat)

Kira, Kirk and Sergio ran to save what they could... and that fast it was gone....

We went to check the damage besides all the tree branches that were in the yard ...

the garden got its share of the wind and rain.

The onions... the pumpkins...

the squash...

the corn...

and this crazy stick standing straight up in the yard...

Next time they say there is a chance of high winds I hope they will be a little more specific, and just say, "50 MPH winds will we arriving at 6:00 pm with lots and lots of rain, tie everything down and take cover"

She Said I Could Tell

Kira was so happy that her dad was going to be in Utah for Father's Day...because she and Sergio had a special gift to deliver to him.

She could not stop giggling when she handed him the box. Kirk: "Is this what I think it is?"
Kira was quick to show him the little line that said, "POSITIVE" she whispered...are you happy?
and Kirk quickly replied, "VERY HAPPY"so let the cravings begin

along with throwing up and all that fun stuff.

They have got to hear the baby's heart beat at the last two doctors appointments.

The due date right now is February 5, 2011

End of Summer Vacation

One of my greatest joys each summer is when my sister, Lene and her family come to spend part of their summer vacation with us. This year was AWESOME because they spent their WHOLE summer with me in Utah and visiting Idaho.

I do not know if these kids will ever know how much their aunt loves them. I look at them more as my grandchildren than nephew and nieces. Thanks kiddos for spending your summer on the road.

My Home Away From Home

This is my nice little apartment in Provo. It works great for me, Kira and Sergio...The stairs bring you to the front door and living room.
I had to make it feel a little more like a home.

Even though it is in a basement it still gets warm so we purchased a fan to circulate the air.

The kitchen is nice and big

I love that it has a washer and dryer and LOTS of cupboard space

The bedroom is also large with two big closets and a very comfy bed.

and the bathroom has all that you NEED.

Sacred Ground

If you have followed my blog for anytime you might know of my obsession for cemeteries.

I love the SLC cemetery it is truly sacred ground

I love seeing the resting places of the different Latter-day Prophets.
