You Need To Have GOOD Cheese and Crackers

to go with that WHINE!I really haven't been blogging much for the past week, because I could NOT find good enough cheese for my constant whine....
Bless Kirk's heart, he has been a real trooper, he has even taken 2 days off work to help me around. The doctor said not to leave the house or be around anyone ...that is not a problem UNLESS I WANT TO LEAVE AND BE AROUND SOMEONE. I am at day 3 of no other than not being able to walk far without falling over I think I am on the mend.
Someone pass the cheese and crackers...

You Are Coming Home When?

When Derek was called to the Indiana, Indianapolis Mission....I was like OK that is cool.
His good friend had just got his call to Kentucky and so they would have stories to share,

We you arrive at the mission training
You are assigned a group who is your district and another that is your Zone

Elder Derek liked the group he was with,

In the past couple of weeks we have received up dated pictured. And with each picture I can not wait to see what he looks like when he get off the plane.

Derek had a great week and here is his letter :

mom you are really funny but i do have alot to tell you! so my weekend was really good with elder Cristoferson and elder Costa and Elder Lancing. it was so good! elder Lancing talk alot about obedience. it was really good and how because some obedience missionaries his mom and dad joined the church. and then elder Costa talk about when he joined the church he said when he was 11 he help elder build a church and the elders came to his house to teach his family. and the taught about FHE and his father didn't like that he said that that church wants me to be a bad father and only have family night one time a week when we have it 7 times a week! so the elder left and 10 years later yes 10!!! the elder came back to the house and the father answered and he said i already know about your Church you come along time ago. (by the way that father had been asking other churches alot about families after life and wasn't being told what he wanted to hear) so when he told the elders that he didn't want to talk to them one of the elders said well we have a new message. what is that asked the father. and the elder answered your family can be together forever... come in come in said the father. and the family was baptised like 3 week later everybody but elder Costa. he lived in a city far away. but he came back to visit and his father was now the ward mission leader. and was havering the sister come over alot. and elder Costa just said dad your crazy. but he heard a little bit of what the sisters were saying and when he left to go to a friends house she stopped and was think what if it is true? so he went home and asked his mom for a history of the church book and he read it and prayed about it all night!!! and then he was baptised 2 days later. yes two day. it was a really cool story i liked it lot. i hope that you can read it. because i was typing really fast... well fast to me.:P and then Elder C just had us ask Qs it was alot of fun. i like it alot. we got so see alot of people this week like we got to see paul two times. and bro foo and the guy that he wanted us to teach are going up to Carmel because that is were the guy lives. you so now ya. i dont come home on the 6th of may now... now i come home on the 4th of may. have a good week and get love Elder Burgess

I can't wait to see Derek stepping off the plane. He will be pleased with the work he has done for so many in Indiana. Love Ya Bud!

I look and think...not only is my baby all grown up, He has grown so much in the gospel.
and today February 23, 2010 he only has 70 days!

Pictures from Derek

When I get a new picture of Derek aka Elder Burgess.
I am ONE HAPPY MOM! I think we have received a hand full in the 16 months that he has been gone.
I can not get over how grown up he looks. My baby really is not a baby anymore.

He is pictured with his mission companion Elder White. They are serving in Avon, Indiana.

Friday Follow

I have been subbing at the local elementary schools. This week I have to admit that my heart is confused at what I heard.

First...I guess I am old... when I was in grade school boys had "Cooties" and then one day they were pretty COOL!

I had friends that were girls IE: Girlfriends

and I had boys that were friends. IE Boyfriends.

Does this sound familiar?

Well, this is the conversation I heard between a 3rd grade little boy and a little girl.

and YES it stopped me in my tracks!
Little Boy: "So, you must be a Lesbian"
Little Girl: " I don't think so, I like boys and girls".
Little Boy: "Oh that makes you Bi"
Little Boy: "I use to be gay, because I only liked to play with boys, now I like to play with boys AND girls, So I am Bi too"

The little girl walked away with a look of OK I am Bi....
I was standing there with my mouth open.
I wanted to just cry...Bi WHAT????

really...what our children learning!

I have to be really honest....
When I was in 3rd grade I had no clue what Bi, Gay or Lesbian meant. Maybe they don't get it either...

But, when did just playing with friends on the playground become about Sexual Orientation?

I am still it that they are straight or not... that little girl left for recess having her thoughts and maybe her emotions changed...just because of who she wanted to play with...
What do you think?

On a lighter note....this is the site I found these cute paper dolls on.

What I Did With My Vintage Valentines

I realized I never posted what I did with the Valentines I received from Garage Sale Girl I found the frame at the local DI for $2.00
I also found the wood hearts at the DI.
I painted them and added cute scrapbook paper to them.
I think they are pretty cute.
I enjoy my Valentine's entryway very much.
Thanks again Deb.

Friday Follower

One of my favorite blogs to follow is MaryRC, because well, because she makes me happy. She mentioned on her blog that one of her friends was starting a Friday Followers...LOTS of different blogs to check out.

I like checking in on my favorites that I follow, but on Friday I might add a few more to look at.

Super Bowl

I can not believe that it is SUPER BOWL WEEKEND! I love watching the Super Bowl and usually can tell you WHO will win (my choice that is) and what we will be eating

We all know WHO TO CHEER FOR is just as important as WHAT TO EAT...but this year I do not know what I want to do!

I have really enjoyed watching the Saints play this year and have found myself cheering for them more times than not.

Passing Cmp Att Yds TDs
Drew Brees 363 514 4388 34
Mark Brunell 15 30 102 0
Rushing Car Yds Avg TDs
Pierre Thomas 147 793 5.4 6
Mike Bell 172 654 3.8 5
Receiving Rec Yds Avg TDs
Marques Colston 70 1074 15.3 9
Devery Henderson 51 804 15.8 2

And then there are the Colts...I can't remember the last time I did not cheer for one of the Manning brothers. I respect the loyalty that they have to each other...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! AND Derek is in Indianapolis on his mission...I am pretty sure I would not get a cool COLTS Jersey if he heard I rooted against Indianapolis.

Passing Cmp Att Yds TDs
Peyton Manning 393 571 4500 33
Curtis Painter 8 28 83 0
Rushing Car Yds Avg TDs
Joseph Addai 219 828 3.8 10
Donald Brown 78 281 3.6 3
Receiving Rec Yds Avg TDs
Reggie Wayne 100 1264 12.6 10
Dallas Clark 100 1106 11.1 10

The Food Network created "twice baked potato skins" for each team!! I like both of them but I think I would lean towards the Colts skin. SaintsWho are you cheering for? And what is your favorite Super Bowl Party snack?
