Elder McKay

Kirk and I were able to go to Utah to spend a couple of days with my brother, Morris, his wife Rhonda and their youngest, McKay.
They were in Utah to take McKay to the MTC or Mission Training Center in Provo.
He will be serving and LDS Mission for the next 2 years in the Richmond Virgina Mission.
McKay is such an amazing young man. I have always loved him so much!
He is a good guy, a hard worker and knows how to have fun.

The night before he entered the MTC, McKay requested Red Lobster for his "Last Meal".
After a 2 hour wait for a table (Valentine night with a party of 11)
Morris, Rhonda, McKay along with Ro and Karen's family and Kirk and I
set down to a great meal and another fun evening of visiting.

February 15, 2012 at 12:30pm
we arrived at the MTC
for pictures

and last goodbyes and a few more pictures.
When our kids went on their missions everyone went in for a video, talks about not stalking your missionaries while they are at the MTC and everyone singing "Called to Serve" before the MTC President stood to tell the missionaries to give their families a hug and then head for the door in the back, while the families went out the door in the opposite side of the room.

NOW... You pull in the drive way and follow the guys in orange vests waving to you until they show you were to park. Along the sidewalk stand a small army of missionaries ready to help unload your suit cases and take the new missionaries to where they will be living, eating, sleeping and studying being a missionary.

McKay said, Enough pictures...it is time to get this done, and just like that he was heading down the sidewalk...
Morris filmed and took tons of pictures
and kept the tears  "Snow" under control for the moment.
and Rhonda,
She had the eyes of a missionary mom
proud of her son, concerned for her son, faith in her son,
and complete faith in her Father in heaven.
Topping the missionary mom's eyes are the constant glimmer of tears.
Each will remain in her eyes until 2 years from now when again she hugs on her son.
Elder Angle,
Go work hard.
Have fun.
and have NO regrets.

Just Asking...

Is there a food that if you just hear the name about makes you puke???
I have one....
white beans and ham..
just typing it has me gagging...
Especially if you add the word...
Ketchup with it.
It is kind of a long story...
I come from a family  of queasy tummy people.

If  one person even makes the sound of a gag...or a sound close to it, you can pretty much bet that someone else will be dry heaving or gagging, with ultimately ending with 5 kids PUKING everywhere.

(As an adult I now know why we did not take many family vacations...someone ALWAYS got car sick...get the picture.)

Anyway, back to white beans and ham...

I am not sure why my mom thought we should eat this disgusting meal, but she did, the smell while it was cooking was enough to make you sick (and my mom was an amazing cook)

My brother...the 2nd... as a 5 year old had to have ketchup on EVERYTHING.
This night LONG AGO...he figured if he put ketchup in his white beans and ham it might...just might cover the taste.
So, we all watched to see if it would help.

I still remember his face and that little deep gag that comes from the bottom of your throat...
Yep, that is all it took...we were all PUKING, running for the outside door to the yard, trying not to throw up all over my mom's kitchen table.

Can you see 5 children under the age of 10 trying not to step in the other's mess as we were running from the house???
Mom was NOT impressed.
To this day...the smell gags me.
I try every year after Easter to make it for Kirk, because for some unknown reason he likes it.
I usually spend most of the time gagging and complaining with at least one time running for the bathroom to puke.
May 25th is  Argentina's Revolution Day, to celebate they eat something called Locro., so my sweet daughter Kira ask if we can make it for Sergio....
and I am like SURE...what do we need?
Ham, white beans...and the list continues on her blog.
I still can not get the smell out of my mind, but I do believe it is the first time in 30 years that I have made it and not puked at least once and gagged ALL DAY!

I am just trying to figure out how I can throw the left overs in the fridge away without anyone noticing.
Because really, I do not want my veggies tasting like ...
GAG.....

Family...

The Wedding is over...and now it hits me how lucky I am to have a close family...
The cousins all enjoy each other
the age difference doesn't seem to matter
Here are the cousins (minus Josh and Derek and Adam...who didn't want to be in the picture) oldest to youngest
Tallest to Shortest...We had to have a measure off between Chad and Brady
Chad wonChad and Kira have always been close friends even when you are 2 states apart. The hardest part for me is when everyone starts getting ready to leave.
Morris, Rhonda, MaKay and Chad were the first to go.Because my family is not a "huggy, kissy family" this picture is priceless
Though I am sure that somebody is about to be goosed! Then Rowland and his family left for home. My dad went to stay with then for a day before flying back to Arizona'Lene and her children are going to spend a few weeks with us. Her husband left yesterday, which was sad to see him get on the plane and his little Ham...wanting to go with him.

I am lucky...and I know that

Carpet In...

My brother Morris is alot like Kirk...they can pretty much make, fix or do anything they want...
So, they went to Josh and Ali's and put carpet in their new house.

Kira even helped to make sure that it was soft!

Happy Birthday Morris

I have been blessed to have great siblings. My brother Morris has to be one of the neatest people I know.
I have always been in awe of how he will walk up to a total stranger that needs something and do all that he can to help (like almost burning up his brand new wrench to help pull a stranger's truck out of a river (did I mention the guy that got stuck should have been left there...stupid, stupid!)
That goes on Mountain Man trips with scout troop after scout troop.
He is the kind of Uncle that every kid dreams of. He plays hard, and teases with the best of them.
My family has tried for years to always spend at least one week a year with Morris and his family. You know you play cards until your eyes can only see spades & hearts, you will laugh until your side hurts, and you will PLAY even harder!
Happy Birthday Morris, I love you.
