The Children's Bible In A Nutshell

Every now and again a really cute email gets sent around. I chuckled at this one ....
In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.

Then God made the world. He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.....Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.

Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff. Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.

There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' (It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats. Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.

But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again.. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

I Wondered When It Would Hit

I knew this day would come...Kira has been in a fog since she got home...
This morning she came and crawled in bed next to me and said, "Mom, I really miss it"
My only reply was, "I know Sunshine".
We talked about converts, investigators, companions, other missionaries and members who cared so much.
and I watched as I saw the first post mission tears started to stream down her face.

she has several cd's of pictures...I wish I could add them all. Each one is an amazing memory.

Happy Birthday Mom

Today would be my mom,
Geneva Mary Berryhill's
67th Birthday
As I have been thinking about my mom today, I also thought a lot about my siblings and the traits that each of them have received from my mom.
This is one of the few pictures I have of my mom and me when I was young.
She was just 19 years old when I was born.
Bruce has my mom's genes Morris is creative and will do anything for anybody.
Rowland is an fantastic cook and dedicated to his family
Darlene is beautiful like my mom
and
the most amazing mom to her 5 children
So even though my mom is no longer here,
her qualities are still alive and strong in our family.

Give The Girl A Break

I think I know a reason why missionaries might not want to come home.

WHO ARE YOU DATING???
What are you going to do NOW???
When do you leave for school????
Have you found a job??
What? When? How? Why?
OH MY GOSH!!!!

She is still unpacking...and trying to adjust to the differences of not being a missionary and back in the States.
She is enjoying the hugs and smiles of all of her family and friends.
She has been "working for 18 months...without a day off.
She was dedicated to the work that she was to do and was successful in her trials.
She is missing her friends in Argentina...and feeling "home sick".
She was asked to substitute teaching Seminary at the High School for the week.
She is loving it...
and I believe will help her transition a little more to being home.
So, when you see a missionary that has just got home...instead of asking all the above questions....
How about saying
"Welcome Home"
Tell me how YOU are doing?

A Bite of Heaven

A good member of the Church sent these home from Argentina with Kira to give to me.

They are called Alfajores...OH MY GOSH...You know how when you get a really good candy and you hide it so you do not have to share them...

YEP...these are that good! I was told this "company" was the premium... I would have to agree!

Q&A: They are a cookie ...well kind of...Ok you know how moon pies are made...that is what they are like in shape ONLY...the lemon one had powdered sugar on the outside, the chocolate cream has a chocolate cover...they are not as thick as moon pies...No marshmello anything in them...and the cookie is NOTHING like a moon pie...these totally melt in your mouth....Oh my I am going to have to hide the box from myself!!!

I Believe Spring Is On Its Way

Can you just smell the ground being tilled and ready for potatoes and peas to be planted!I love our garden...almost as much as the man that takes such good care of it.

Everyone Needs Their Old Friends

Itsey has been a really good lilttle mom, but today she had gone and got one of her old friends to snuggle with...do dogs get baby blues?

OH MY GOSH!!!

I can not believe that Kira will be home in less than 36 hours! She sent this picture home so we would know who to watch for when she comes off the plane.
Concerned...No, I am not concerned!

I am not sure what freaks me out the most, the HAIR or the posture!

Why Is It

When I have a list like this to do

THIS seems to ALWAYS happen

The faucet to the downstairs tub decided to spring a HUGE leak

Do you know how difficult it is to clean with out running water?

I am NEVER going to have things ready before Kira gets home in 5 days!!
