Give The Girl A Break

I think I know a reason why missionaries might not want to come home.

WHO ARE YOU DATING???
What are you going to do NOW???
When do you leave for school????
Have you found a job??
What? When? How? Why?
OH MY GOSH!!!!

She is still unpacking...and trying to adjust to the differences of not being a missionary and back in the States.
She is enjoying the hugs and smiles of all of her family and friends.
She has been "working for 18 months...without a day off.
She was dedicated to the work that she was to do and was successful in her trials.
She is missing her friends in Argentina...and feeling "home sick".
She was asked to substitute teaching Seminary at the High School for the week.
She is loving it...
and I believe will help her transition a little more to being home.
So, when you see a missionary that has just got home...instead of asking all the above questions....
How about saying
"Welcome Home"
Tell me how YOU are doing?

Agreed, agreed, agreed. People mean well, but they ask all the wrong questions. I felt like it wasn't right for me, myself, to go on a mission. Oh, the questions. "Oh. So are you dating someone?" "No. I just felt like I need to stay here." "Oh. So... what are you going to DO??" Grrr.

Yes, it is a big adjustment from missionary life to life back home. I think Ed Pinegar wrote a book about how to made the adjustment.
But President Hinckley's promise is still in effect: "You will be blessed every day for the rest of your life for serving a mission."

that is very good advice, it like after you get married.. "when are you gonna start a family?"

Hi Janiece ~ she looks so happy! But it's true, some people don't think before they speak. Glad she's teaching!

Those are very good thoughts! She is sucha sweetie! I think sometimes people just don't know what else to say. I don't think they even think anything of it.

I'm sure that coming back to the states was a huge adjustment for Kira. I hope things have calmed down some for her.
