Family Reunion

Lets be real honest...
How do you feel about Family Reunions....O.K.
and what about
IN-LAW Reunions??
Kirk's Uncles and Aunts

Kirk's Mom, Wanda Warner, passed away 30+ years ago. But, every other year on the first Saturday in July the family gathers for a reunion.
This year it was near our home on the 4th of July.
The aunts and uncles who age from simi-old (born in 1940)to REALLY OLD (born 1922) said that this was the last reunion that they were going to plan and asked the next generation if they wanted to keep having reunions.
Quickly several of the cousins said that they would happily carry on the tradition that has been going on for over 30 years.I am not very comfortable around people I do not know well. Even if it is a "family" gathering.
It was funny when Dru came and introduced herself to me "in person" come to find out...Kirk's cousin is one of my "Facebook" friends!and as the torch is passed from one generation to the next
the following generation is waiting in line to carry on the memories.

Looks like a fun time...but I'm with you, I would feel a little awkward around folks I don't know.

Funny how Kirk's cousin was on your facebook!

Looks like fun! I'm a social butterfly and can strike up a conversation with anyone so I'm right at home at a reunion. Heck, I could attend a family reunion of totally strangers and pretend to be part of the family pretty effectively if I wanted to. LOL!

It's good to step outside of your comfort zone sometimes. I'm glad you made an unexpected connection with the cousin.

Neither of my parents families have reunions since I was maybe 12. Troy's grandfather (who raised him) family has a reunion every yr & they go to this ugly run down park & sit.. Nothing else. We haven't been since his grandfather died about 8 yrs ago..

I love reunions! We haven't had one on both sides for years and I miss them. I really think our kids are going to start them again real soon. They have been talking about one. It's so hard when my fam lives in Texas and Giselle is in DC and we are in Idaho. She wants one so bad on my side of the family. Maybe soon!
