I started the Christmas holiday with a double ear infection. Not only did my ears hurt but it felt like my brain behind my eyes was going to explode with pressure at any moment.
I visit the doctor and he prescribed an antibiotic
and being the smart person I am I purchased some Afrin nasal spray. There is a reason why they tell you to be sure that your over the counter medicines will not interfere with the Rx's that you take and yes I take several including a anti-anxiety med.
Christmas came and went...and well, to be really honest I have about an entire week that I do not remember...GONE! Totally Gone...But this is nasal spray...really...
I was trying really hard not to set in a corner and rock like a baby thinking...CRAP I'm not even 50 yet and I am getting dementia. I decided to get on line to look up
Short-Term Memory Loss before I forget I had it and this pops up on my search:
All medications, both prescribed and over-the-counter, Nasal spray such as Afrin ®, Neosynephrine™, etc., should be avoided. ... Depression, Short Term Memory and Concentration impairments. ...http://www.panicattack.net/treat.htm
Hum....
Guess I will remember the warning:
DO NOT MIX OVER THE COUNTER MEDICINE W/ Rx's

I am glad that you are arent going crazy...crazier...
I sure love you.
Get better soon!
Oops, I'm sorry you missed out on a week of your life but look at the bright side, you don't have dementia...yet. Menopause might do weird things to your brain but I don't think dementia is one of them, oh what was I saying? Well there goes that theory.
Isn't it strange how such tiny pills can have such a huge impact on us? I hope you are feeling better. Being sick over the holidays is the worst. You deserve some sick-free, stress-free, fun-filled weeks to start out this new year.
Nope, sometimes it's not a good idea to mix meds. Sorry you found out the hard way!
Hope you're feeling better!
It's weird how things happen like that. I have a wonderful blending pharmacist that goes over all that every time I change a med but I think most can't be bothered. I'm glad you know this now but sorry you had to learn the hard way!
Wow... good advice for all of us! Congrats on the Boise win too...the game was played right here in Arizona.
