Missionary Mail!

I LOVE Mondays and Tuesdays
On Monday I get an email from my daughter, Hermana (Sister) Kira who is serving in Salta Argentina Mission and on Tuesday I hear from my son Elder Derek who is in the Indianapolis, Indiana Mission.
This Friday Kira will hit her 1 year mark, she will only have 6 months left (Sister missionaries only serve for 18 months), for a parent that is still a life time yet I know it will be here before I know it too!
Derek has been gone for 4 months and that at times has felt forever, yet in the next thought it is hard to believe that he has already been gone that long.
Both of them have their own writing styles. Kira's emails are full of crazy detail and are usually about 3 pages...they are uplifting and totally make me happy! She loves Argentina, and the people. She actually speaks pretty good Castillino. Her letter yesterday said, "About my new watch…well…its black and square…and it has the numbers 1 through 12 and these two little pieces of metal that point to the different numbers depending on the time of day…like when it is about time to go back to the pench it usually points at about 9 or so…but you have to know how to read it because it points at the 9 in the morning too…its tricky…jejejeje…you and your silly questions" Ok so maybe I shouldn't have asked her to tell me about her watch.
Derek's letters are short but you can hear the personal growth he is making. I ask each week for him to tell me somthing funny ...this week it was they were going fishing on their prep day...he said, "well we are going to go fishing today so that will be fun and i'm am happy to know I'm going to Kill a fish :D but not eat it yuck i just said, that i'll do the the work and some one else can take my fruits. haha" that is a true sign of him changing. Before leaving I don't know if he even knew there was a scripture that would talk about the "Fruits of his Labor" (Alma 29:15,17)
Yep, I LOVE my Mondays & Tuesdays!

So, I was looking at Derek's picture and I had to look twice. It really looked like he had an earing in his left ear. But...it's just the bushes behind him. I love to hear about your missionaries. I look at Kira's mission page on Facebook for updates every Monday (or so).

I remember how it felt to get Richie's letters. That is your connection to them and it's a good feeling. I'm glad to know they are doing well.

You get excited about their emails - NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I hadn't really noticed a difference in their writing styles. I will have to pay attention to that. :P
