What Are They?

Kirk spends HOURS after work in the garden each year.
We plant a very large garden for only 2 people. yes the picture was taken by my sister 'lene
this is maybe a 1/4 of our 2009 garden
So this year "we" have decided to put in a smaller garden and we have been using some of the seeds that we harvested from last year.

We made "mini" green houses to get the seeds growing.
We use Zip-lock bags and good planting soil.
Kirk labeled all of his seeds so he knew what he was keeping to plant this spring.
I on the other hand just "saved" seeds of something I liked in a dish.Kirk and I both agree what I saved is some kind of squash...
I told him I think it is Spaghetti squash.
He is not real sure he wants to plant them in the garden.
(because we did not grow spaghetti squash last year)
Especially when the rest of the seeds are just starting to sprout and these have their 3rd leaves!
I asked if we could just plant one and SEE what it is...
his answer...
Do you remember we want a SMALL GARDEN!???

What do you think our surprise plant is?

Oh goodness, you have made me curious. Keep us posted.

I love the way you start your seeds in 'mini greenhouses', such a great idea. No peat pots and all the mess. Thanks for the tip.

I know zero about plants. I have a black thumb. I might know a tomato plant, and that is not what that is...or is it? Hahaha. I can't wait to find out.

I agree that it looks like something in the squash family. A 'mystery' plant- sound like you need to grow it just for the novelty of figuring out what it is!

Love the mini greenhouse idea! Your garden looks great. Could it be a pumpkin?
