One of the nice things about living in small town America is each year we get to enjoy a real county fair, with Rodeos, Animals, FFA, 4-H, Home made projects and most importantly GREAT food...what is it about a hamburger at the fair that is so darn good, or corn on the cob...oh my gosh HOMEMADE Maple Bars...OH YEA BABY, now we are talking!
But, before all that happens we have the Cassia County Parade, I haven't seen it for seveal years now because I am always driving the truck for my son, Josh's Taekwondo School . Every year he has some of his students that help during the parade either by passing out flyers or doing some type of "demo".
It is always great fun.
So, the parade is over and I am off to decide if I am having a hamburger or corn on the cob for dinner...or maybe I will just fill up on maple bars.

Our County Fair is in September. If hubby and I go...it's definately for the food. One of our favorites is an egg roll on a stick, covered in sweet and sour sauce. OMG they're sooo good!

Yum! Corn on the cob! Our county fair will not be here until September and I cannot wait. I love to see the livestock, pig out on Corn on the cob, artichokes and funnel cake. I leave there stuffed and feeling no shame (LOL).
I love the fair too! During fair week we go have dinner every night. That's my favorite, the food! No cooking during that week. Dick loves the corn on the cob. Last night we went to get maple bars and they were selling boxes they called end pieces for 3 dollars. We bought a box and they were just as big as the other ones. They tasted just as good and alot cheaper. Aubrey's cabbage took 2nd place. You'll have to go see it. It's in the 7- 8 year old section I think it should have taken 1st. I'll post some pics on our blog.

We have a festival here in Pekin called "The Marigold Festival". Food, fun, fellowship-oh and did I say food? My church sells baked potatoes. Ray bakes them at church and then the messengers bring them to the park to sell. Ray bakes around 1200 potatos!!! The Job's Daughters that I help with sell scrambled meat sandwiches (maid rite sandwiches) Mmmm it's all good!!!
